She just moved to the U.S.Los Angeles after 5 years in Japan, travels often, is bilingual, loves sushi and dinosaurs, has an obsession with tea and bunnies. She walked away from her desk job to be a hair stylist and is loving every minute of it. In L.A., she is chasing her wildest dreams. Hobbies include travel and painting, and she probably loves tumblr far more than she should.

Shetland Islanders celebrate Viking legacy

Participants dressed in armour and holding Viking war-axes and shields take part in a procession during the annual Up Helly Aa festival in Lerwick, Shetland Islands on Jan. 31, 2012.

Up Helly Aa celebrates the influence of the Scandinavian Vikings in the Shetland Islands and culminates with up to 1,000 ‘guizers’ (men in costume) throwing flaming torches into their Viking longboat and setting it alight later in the evening. Up Helly Aa has been going since 1881.

Well. That takes the wind out of my local county fair.

A RECORD number of Australians are expected to travel to the US this year as airlines slash their fares to around $1000.

Visit USA estimates more than one million Australians will travel to America in 2012. “It’s a remarkable number considering the population is 22 million,” Visit USA spokesman Mark Sheehan said.

“The population of the US is 322 million people and even with Oprah it only manages to send 500,000 Americans to Australia each year.”

Any fellow Aussies going this year? I know I am :-)

Well, if Oprah would step her game up I would totally visit Australia.  Do these air fares work for US folks going to Australia too? Because throwing together thousands of dollars for a short vacation, mostly spent on a plane, ain’t in the cards for this little chicken. I wish it was, but it just isn’t part of the lifestyle available to the average joe. :(

And…. add this to things I have to go whenever I get the chance to visit Tokyo.

This is true, I have been to several. Just remember that cats can be shy and a lot of the cats at these cafes are tired of being chased for lovin.  I did regularly visit a dog park though.  It is a park for people who love dogs but cannot afford to keep one.  You pay an entrance fee, and you can pick a dog to be “your” dog for the day. Take him on walks, play tug of war, et cetera.  The one I went to was nice and the dogs kind of had an amazing life of constant entertainment. Also, importantly, the dogs had their own trainers that worked with them AND vacation time a few days a week.  It was kind of awesome for me.  I wish they had that here in LA…

Also, can I just say I am good at my job.  There is no photoshopping yet. None. Pretty lady had freckles and sunburn and everything. (Love freckles but the photo was aiming at a washed out look)

Worked on a set today, here is a test shot. No photoshopping, just a snap.

The photographer is wonderful to work with.
